From August 11 to 13, 2019, the Eighth IEEE/CIC International Conference on Communications in China (ICCC 2019), co-sponsored by China Communication Society, IEEE and IEEE ComSoc, was held in Jilin University. The ICCC is one of the most important international academic exchanges in communication engineering in addition to being one of the most high-profile meeting for IEEE ComSoc in the Asia-Pacific region. This conference is organized by Jilin University and co-organized by Changchun University of Technology, Changchun University of Technology and Jilin Communication Society. Dr. Zhang Yanchuan, Deputy Chair and Secretary-General of China Communication Society, Dr. Khaled Ben Letaief, Chair of IEEE ComSoc attended the meeting. Dr. Zhang Xi, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and President of Jilin University, gave the opening address.

This years’s ICCC arranged numerous symposia, tutorials, workshops, and industry panels. There is also one joint forum for young scientists. The conference invited six foreign academicians/IEEE Fellows as keynote speakers and 17 IEEE Fellows/internationally renowned communication experts as invited speaker.

At present, the world is entering an economic development period driven by the information industry. Consumption and production both encompass great potentials for digitalization, networking and information converge that offer opportunities for those with a keen eye on the industry. China Communications Society is dedicated to continue driving reform, servicing scientific and technology stakeholders, promoting development through innovation, and fostering an enabling environment for those who the scientific quality of the whole people and serving national scientific decision-making, promote the construction of open, pivotal and platform-type organizations, unite and lead scientific and technological workers, vigorously promote academic exchange and innovation development in the field of information and communication with domestic and foreign countries. All colleagues in the field of science and technology and industry work together to seize development opportunities, to create a good atmosphere and promote the continuous prosperity and vigorous innovation of science and technology in the information and communication industry.
